We are thrilled to announce that our project, Avanti Connect, has been awarded the Community Innovation of the Year award at BIG South London’s annual Business, Innovation, and Growth Summit. This recognition highlights our team’s dedication to creating impactful mental health and wellbeing services that are truly embedded in the Merton community.
Over the past six years, Avanti Connect has evolved from a local mental health support project into a thriving Community Interest Company (CIC). Designed to meet the unique needs of individuals, organizations, and communities, our mental health services include accessible mental health and wellbeing support for everyone in Merton and the surrounding boroughs. By offering a diverse range of activities – from art and mindfulness to music, drama, and relaxation techniques – our goal is to provide safe spaces where individuals can connect, heal, and grow.
Our journey would not have been possible without the support of the Merton Borough Council, our facilitators, and the team Avanti team helping us coordinate services, meet with participants, and drive impactful change within our community. BIG South London’s support has given us invaluable insights into finance tools and emerging technologies, enabling us to expand our reach and optimize our operations.
In just four months, we have welcomed nearly 30 new members to our community, bringing us closer to our target of 70 members by the end of this year. We attribute this growth to the vibrant, collaborative nature of Avanti Connect; our members actively participate in shaping our sessions, choosing materials, and exploring meaningful topics for personal and communal growth.
This award is a testament to the power of community-driven mental health support and innovation. Avanti Connect remains committed to delivering award-winning mental health services that make a lasting impact in Merton and beyond. We look forward to continuing this journey together with our community, our partners, and everyone who believes in the importance of accessible, inclusive, and supportive mental health services.
Thank you to BIG South London, the Merton Borough Council, and all our partners and participants who have contributed to this achievement. Together, we are building a healthier, more connected future for all.
